Consolidating & Unifying

Centralizing learning across brands

The Problem

Learner Confusion

Through acquisitions, Diligent ended up with three different learning management systems (LMSs). Enterprise customers with multiple solutions, along with new hires, were unsure which system to use for training. On top of the confusion, Diligent was covering the cost of TalentLMS, Absorb, and HighSpot instead of consolidating to one platform.

The Solution

Consolidated all product training and educational content into one LMS, Thought Industries, for customers, partners, and internal teams.

Results

All content that was planned for migration was successfully migrated on time, allowing Diligent to deprecate and save on the cost of the pre-existing 3 LMSs.

Additional Details

Target Audience

This project impacted all employees, partners, and customers who engaged with eLearning as part of their solutions.

Design Process

The instructional design (team of three) worked to identify and test LMS options that met specified criteria, selected and purchased the best fit, and completed our own onboarding. From there, we trained colleagues across the company and led the project plan to migrate all content and users into the new system.

Tools used

  • Asana - Project management tool

  • Microsoft Sharepoint - For file sharing between all stakeholders

  • Slack - For communication between all stakeholders

  • Thought Industries - For creating enablement materials for other content authors

My Role

My role focused on content migration, where I supported stakeholders with course re-creation, resolved content issues, and kept timelines on track. I also built and executed on the migration plan for English and localized content.

Reflection &
Key Learnings

  1. The LMS migration was handled by our small team of three. Although we were skilled in managing course projects, this initiative was larger in scale and complexity. I learned that balancing stakeholder bandwidth and understanding their motivation ensured a smoother migration process.

  2. No LMS is perfect, and courses cannot always be recreated as they were in the past. This project strengthened my creative problem-solving and allowed me to partner with others to rethink content delivery and enhance the impact of training.
